Just pictures this week. Liquorice basil seedlings looking so neat, mignonette that smells of boiled sweets or powdered old ladies, a chicory flower where I thought I would find lettuce seeds. Parsley, French marigold and the leaf of an unknown plant I found growing in the wormery.
Herb robert, throat of sweet peat and a wild, wild rose, so beautiful, growing on Greenham Common. A cobweb, some strawberries, shallots, garlic. A frog who eats slugs, the three sisters: corn, beans and squashes; more strawberries.
New potatoes, new flower planting by my shed and Lettuce Vienna, from some old seed, a variety that seems to have disappeared, and for which I have high hopes.
And now I’m away. Away dancing Biodanza for a long weekend, meeting old friends, out of internet, away from cricket and gardening, a retreat, but only tactical retreat. I’ll be back next week!
