Growing Vegetables 13

Ideas and complications

It’s been a good week. I’ve been thinking about gardening principles, trying to work out what it is I am trying to do apart from grow food. I’ve made a list: Make compost; Save seeds; Do not dig; Value ALL plants; Share; Restore the soil; Allow wilderness. There are more things – no chemicals, obviously. Less lawns, more plant diversity. I’d like to come up with a definitive list, a manifesto for gardeners that will help to save the Earth. Please help with ideas and actions. Even complications! We can make a difference.

Action

It’s been a good week of doing too. I’m telling the story in pictures.

It has been an exciting week. Louise found a wormery on Freecycle, and we will be setting it up over the next few days. Any worm tips most welcome. The plants for the native American combination of sweetcorn, squashes and beans are coming together. The beans above are the last to be sown, the squashes and corn are growing well.
